Connections Program helps adult newcomers and their children adjust
to their new lives in Canada and integrate successfully into Canadian
This program recruits
screens and trains volunteers to serve as mentors to newcomers, assisting
them with language or employment. The Community Connections program
also arranges many group activities for clients and volunteers.
A Community Connections
volunteer must be at least 18 years of age and possess the skills
needed to assist newcomers with language or employment. They must
also have a clean criminal background and have a genuine interest
in helping a newcomer adjust to life in Canada.
be naturalized citizens, permanent residents of Canada or have applied
to Citizenship and Immigration for permanent residence.
It costs nothing
to join the Community Connections program.
