North Bay office opens in 2008
The North Bay & District Multicultural Centre evolved from the work of the North Bay Newcomer Network, spearheaded by the Mayor's Office of Economic Development. It became a reality January 1, 2008 and is a reflection of the changing face of the city. The official opening of the centre was February 22, 2008.
Local Immigration Partnerships (LIP)
The North Bay Local Immigration Partnership (formerly known as the North Bay Newcomer Network) was developed out of the City of North Bay's Mayor's Office of Economic Development in 2005. The North Bay LIP has been located at the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre since its opening in 2008. It is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The Timmins Local Immigration Partnership (TLIP) was established in March of 2009 through funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. TLIP was originally located at the Timmins Economic Development Corporation. It has been located at the Timmins & District Multicultural Centre since 2015. Timmins office opens in 2011
In 2011 we opened a second office in Timmins, the Timmins & District Multicultural Centre. Between the two offices, some 400 kilometres apart, we serve newcomers from the Parry Sound District in the south to the Cochrane District in the north, including the Districts of Nipissing and Timiskaming.
