Racism and Discrimination

Addressing racism, discrimination and bias within our society requires work from all levels of our community. All marginalized communities face unique barriers, challenges and overt forms of discrimination in our community.  These barriers continue to be very damaging to marginalized community members but remain invisible to those outside of that group.

NBDMC Anti-Racism Workshop Information

The North Bay & District Multicultural Centre offers experiential anti-racism workshops grounded in the lived realties of Northern Ontario, which are beneficial to community partners to address barriers to newcomer retention. These in-depth workshops provide tools, vocabulary and skills needed to make visible the debilitating experiences of our communities of colour and the resulting impact on making our spaces both welcoming and inclusive from all perspectives.

We believe that our community can be a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for ALL people and the way forward is through education and genuine dialogue.
